2. Using Your Phone While Driving

Use a dashboard mount and voice navigation if you need GPS. Do not hold the phone even at traffic lights — cameras are active at intersections too.

3. Not Wearing a Seatbelt

This applies to the driver and every passenger, including those in the back seat. Children under 4 must be in an approved child safety seat. The fine goes to the driver regardless of which passenger is not buckled up.

4. Running a Red Light

5. Tailgating / Driving Slowly in the Fast Lane

How the Black Points System Works

Every serious traffic violation adds black points to your driving license. These points are tracked federally — violations in any emirate count toward the same total. Here is what happens when points accumulate:
